Summer's here and so's outdoor yoga.

Over the past few weeks (during the particularly spiky Mercury retrograde which ran from May 18th-June 11th) I’ve been focusing on yet more of that decluttering I mentioned a couple of posts back, really clearing through old beliefs, stuck emotions, past memories that were hanging around and getting in my way, and definitely weren’t serving me in any way, shape or form. Doing this kind of work can be pretty intense in terms of it leaves you feeling sleepy, needing more naps, and generally feeling like you need to be extra nice to yourself.

Investing in yourself

Today is one of those days where I have been led to ponder that whole issue of self worth. We seem to live in a society where people obsess about the latest 'must have' gadgets and other trinkets in order to get a temporary sense of satisfaction or distraction from their deeper issues yet often aren't prepared to consider redirecting the money that they spend on this kind of stuff to something more worthwhile and far more long lasting than that - personal and spiritual development and the lasting inner peace it provides.

I’ve been enjoying having a thorough clear out recently, not only of my physical space, with what has turned into an ongoing daily ritual in an attempt to make my house feel like an environment where energy can flow easily and naturally, but also my mental/emotional space.

From the moment we start talking, we form our view of the world by asking questions. If you have kids, you will particularly be able to relate to this. Kids always go through that phase as soon as they can string a sentence together, of asking about everything, usually prefixed with a ‘Why?’ to the point where sometimes, if you’re in a hurry, or distracted, it can seem like the most annoying thing in the world when you’re dealing with the latest ‘Why?’ after a series of them which has gone on for what seems like hours.

Undeniably we live in a busy world and it often seems too tough to carve out some proper time for yourself when you have a bunch of commitments in the form of work, kids, extended family, friends in need and so on, but I’m here to tell you today why it’s so important that you do make that time. If you don’t, the chances are that you’ll find yourself either signed off sick from exhaustion or developing one of the many debilitating diseases that seem to be ultimately designed to force us to slow down and start to take better care of ourselves.

Getting out of your head and into your heart

Purposeful manifestation is a question of stepping out of your ego and into your heart. The ego is that little voice that telling you that you want this that or the other because without it you’re worthless, that the person in front of you is better than you, that you have to work really hard to get what you want in life, and that you are basically the sum of your acquisitions and what other people think of you. In metaphorical terms this little voice lives in your head and is the thing that gives you the doubts, the frustrations, the fears, the worries.
